Who is Fürst Carl?
The story of FÜRST CARL begins on 24th May 1815. The Field Marshal Carl Philipp, Earl of Wrede (1767 Heidelberg – 1838 Ellingen) received the Teutonic Castle Ellingen from King Max I. Joseph as a royal throne and fiefdom. Out of respect and in honour of the brave and passionate Field Marshal, since then every first-born within the Earl of Wredes family has the first name Carl.
Today the company, the Fürst von Wrede GmbH & Co. Unternehmens KG, is run by the sixth and seventh generation: The Right Honourable Carl Friedrich Earl of Wrede, The Right Honourable Carl Christian Earl of Wrede and The Right Honourable Katalin Countess of Wrede.
The diverse corporate divisions are united under the umbrella brand FÜRST CARL. We stand together for the region, tradition & innovation, quality and sustainability.

Kellerbier
... our unfiltered beer!
This is how the brewers like to drink their beer: directly from the storage tank. The beer is cloudy, stronger in smell and taste and full-bodied due to the natural components of the ingredients, which this beer contains.
Schlossgold
... our export hit!
Our gold - a real treasure! Strong in character, spicy, malty and with a subtle caramel aroma, it is brewed today using the oldest recipe in our brewery. It reminds us of the origins of the more than 300-year-old beer tradition in Ellingen.
Dunkel
... our european champion!
In 2014, we felt proud when we received the European Beer Star Award in Gold for our dark beer! A special dark beer brewed in the traditional way: Rich in malt and caramel aromas, refined with roast and coffee aromas.
Radler
... our refreshing beer!
This Radler is something special: Our popular and strong character Schlossgold mixed with fine aromatic lemonade. Sparkling - fruity - refreshing!
Mixed beer drink made of 50% Castle Gold and 50% lemonade.
Pils
... our fine hop beer!
Hoppy accents and a fine bitterness, slender and elegant: this is our interpretation of a Pils in the mid-Franconia. The fine bitterness is owed to the aromatic hops, which are grown in the immediate vicinity of the castle brewery by our brewers.
Urhell
... our finest!
A finely balanced light beer brewed with the original Pilsner style. For this, we use only aromatic hops from our immediate surroundings in Ellingen and thereby achieve a very special, subtle hop accent in the beer.
Franken Ale
... our creative one!
Our Franconian beer creation: A top-fermented ale, brewed and dry hopped with the aromatic hops “Hallertauer Mittelfrüh”. These hops are grown by our brewer himself here in Ellingen and give the ale a pleasant touch of quince and pear.
Herbes Glück
... our boldest!
Herbes Glück (Bitter Happiness), the name says it all: A classic-brewed Pils with 100% Pilsner malt and generous amounts of hops from Ellingen. The happiness comes through the hop bouquet, which is particularly strong due to dry hopping. Luckily for all hop fans, our bold Pils has an almost Nordic bitterness.
NATURRADLER
... our refreshing craft beer!
Refreshing, delicious and pristine
The new Fürst Carl NATUR RADLER is made out of a naturally cloudy beer mixed with our own Fürst Carl Lemonade
Josefibock
... our strongest!
This noble bock beer was brewed stronger in honour of Saint Josef, patron Saint of the brewers. Wonderful honey and caramel notes as well as strong malt flavours give the Josefibock a special taste experience during Lent.
Winterbock
... our winter magic!
The Fürst Carl Winterbock with its dominant malty body offers a true variety of aromas. Brewed with regional, finely balanced, special malts, Winterbock is a treat. Its full body and powerful aromas are well balanced by the aromatic hop variety “Select”.
